Tilt-up is the Way to Go

Over the past few years, tilt-up, tilt-slab, and tilt-wall construction have become the way to go. Tilt-up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States. This is due, in part, to the economic benefits of Tilt-up, which combine reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, and unbelievable speed of construction.

In tilt-up, the floor slab is cast early in the process. Wall panels are cast directly on the floor slab before being lifted or “tilted” into their final position around the building slab.

Early tilt-up architecture was very minimalist and boxy. Recent techniques have expanded the range of appearance and shape. While early tilt-up buildings were warehouses, nearly every building type today uses this method. Schools, offices, hotels, car dealerships, retail complexes, and manufacturing and industrial facilities all use tilt-up.

Using these concrete panels improves energy efficiency and can dramatically reduce overhead heating and cooling costs for your business. Tilt-up construction offers a number of benefits to LEED Certification, and there are a number of TCA Member LEED AP’s.

So I’ll summarize the positives of Tilt-up:

  • Design/Build and Tilt-up go hand-in-hand
  • Fast Track Delivery
  • Quick and efficient construction method
  • Greater energy efficiency = money saving practices

When you want to develop a new project, you want to be creative, functional, durable, and attractive. Tilt-up definitely delivers.
